West Dean CE Primary School:
the small school with a big heart
We do our best in all we do, with God’s love. ‘Love one another.
As I have loved you, so must you love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples.’ John 13:24-25
West Dean Church of England Primary School
is a small caring community, housed in a Victorian building set in beautiful grounds in the village of West Dean, nestled in the heart of the South Downs countryside.
Outstanding Education is provided for all our pupils through our focus on children as individuals, high standards and purposeful, exciting learning. Everyone in our school is loved and nurtured by our team of dedicated staff. We believe that, for children to thrive in school, working in partnership with families is key.

A message from West Dean Teaching Team
Home Learning whilst we are partially closed
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please don’t stress about your children’s school work
– just do what you can and enjoy learning together.
When we are all back in school, we will get our children back on track.
We are teachers and these are our superpowers!
What we cannot fix is the social-emotional trauma
which prevents the brain form learning.
So please, just share your love, share your calm, share your strength
and share your laughter with your children.
Don’t think of your children as being behind or ahead of where they should be – they are where they are and where they need to be.
We will work together to prepare everyone for their next steps
at school and in their lives.
With love from us all.

SCHOOL PARTIAL CLOSURE
During this period of partial closure this school site continues to be
open for provision for vulnerable pupils and children of key workers
during term time and throughout the school holidays.
Irrespective of any partial closure or collaboration with another school, the safeguarding of all our children remains our top priority. At this time, our school will continue as normal in supporting our vulnerable children and if anyone has any questions regarding this they are asked to make contact with the Headteacher Mrs Moss via the school office email.
Learning for pupils at home is available on the password protected class pages, and on our home learning tab.
Please contact us by emailing the school office if you have any queries.
Safety at West Dean School
Keeping children safe is a priority for us all. Any concerns of any kind should be reported, in confidence, to Mrs Moss, who is our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
In the absence of Mrs Moss, Mrs Prudence will support with any safeguarding concerns. Mrs Wendy Goacher leads our governors in monitoring our safeguarding work in school. Our governors and premises staff work hard to keep the school well-maintained and safe for us all. Additional and Special Educational Needs at West Dean CE Primary School
